While I thoroughly agree with you we are still rebuilding the soc without which we aren't in any position to lead by example having a dearth of expereinced players to work with and an econ we are just keeping are heads above water to keep us in ships and mods and consumables. It takes at least two full groups to flip a port in a timely fashion especially if they choose to defend it and three if they really want to defend it. I have participated in 3 out 5 flips for the last 3 maps and myself Angel and Match have made some regular attendance at PB's. The two ports this map were only flipped becuase small groups ran up points at successive times. Frank, George and I finshed off Cartagena only becuase we were looking for PvP and couldn't find any. We finally got a response from Pico and a buddy only at the end griefing us when we were a handful of points from finishing it. The same for Angel, Cannonball and I for PdeP. The Cartagena map only 16 showed up 3 clicked out and the Dons fielded 24 even when the Charlestown PB was still in progress. Even on the last map when half way through we were in a neck and neck fight with the Brits things collapsed halfway through although we won several victories agaisnt them they won twice as many grinding all their ports up past 10K for advantages while we onlty did half of ours.
Finally there is the issue of good leadership in PB's, Cannonball while a nice guy is not a great font of strategy and leadership tends to fall to him by default whereby he goes and takes a smoke then comes back within a minute of the ready room opening to breifly hatch out a strategy. Few people know the defaults on the maps these days or what advantages are gained at what point from grinding up the port. Fu Man Chu fielded a full group from Roberts the last map whereby they piped up in the ready room asking "Is this how you guys prepare for PB's"? 3 of his guys quickly clicked out of it in disgust. In the actual battles things are so blobbed up as to make focus fire impossible. Either I have had found it difficult get shots, or been pinned agaisnt somebody when I need a block and getting spiked out or watched in frustration when I called targets and hit someone, watch a heavily damaged opponent get a block when they should have been sunk.
Your never on vent so you don't see how little people are in the vent channels at this point, morale in the Pirate nation is rather low and is unlikely going to be raised by one very small soc at this point on this map. We could get someone like Sule and his people to come over from Roberts to play since things are so far out of balance there that the Pirates finally won a map after coming in second so long. However they would likely get dusgusted as Fu Man Chus guys were. I fought a PB agaisnt them for the Brits before I joined this society with SGS there and the Pirates bring 1-2 groups of Treasons (and know how to sail them), and are neatly organized in double lines to facilitate focus fire and good tactics without trying to linefight Nationals.
Unfortunately this is going to be a rest and rebuilding map or two before anything comes together. Believe me this is very important to me since I live for RvR. The PvP bounty has meant that I have done a lot more of this having turned int he bounty twice on each charcter, but I would rather do my PvP defending and fliping ports, my fleet grinding flipping ports and fighting 1-4 PB's every week. I have briefly considered reactivating my Brit character on Roberts and leveling up another and joining COG which is led by Umbert formerly of France since I am feeling rather desperate at the moment. However I'm going to be patient and see what happens. I wouldn't mind if we get together to runs some epics and farm them for mods for the time being while we wait, we really don't do anything as a soc right now.
